Description
Caius Plinius Caecilius Secundus Panegyricusa is published for the first time in Hungarian. Thanks to the author's literary letters, he is known to the readership as "Pliny the Younger." Several editions of the collection of letters can already be read in Hungarian, but the speech praising Emperor Trajan has so far been ignored. It is also interesting and less well known in terms of the genre of the present work, the origin of the genre can be traced back to the Greek economy (glorifying speech). The speech in AD. It was uttered in 100 before the senatus, in gratitude for winning consular office. Pliny later published the speech, his survival is due to his inclusion in the collection of 12 Latin panegyrics compiled in Galia. With this publication, the Hungarian-language oeuvre of Pliny becomes complete, and the age of the Antoninus dynasty is enriched with an important source.
